Day 1 - Road to DC

One of co-workers was surprised that I had not already launched a countdown to the inauguration. Very poignantly she said, "Alecia, I'm surprised that you are not counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until you leave for the inauguration". To be honest with you, I hadn't even thought about it. I figured that it probably wouldn't hit me until I was taking the Amtrak into Union Station. Honestly, it started to sink in the moment that I submitted my "Road to the Inauguration" story to MSNBC and they responded citing that they would be interested in hearing/sharing my experiences while I was on the trip and afterward. I had already decided that I was going to capture every moment on camera and receiving that e-mail just sealed the deal. So here it goes. At this moment it is 7:28 pm and I officially leave for my trip in less than five days. The countdown begins now!
