I have had a very interesting week. To start, I came to work on Monday and had a good conversation with my professor. She proceeded to invite me to a meeting with some Muslims from Saudi Arabia who were coming to meet with her that afternoon. They were coming to talk about civil rights since, as Shi'ite Muslims, they have no civil rights. They wanted to talk with my professor about a committee she served on called the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission that was created to bring healing and truth to the killing of 5 labor workers (4 white; 1 black) by the KKK in 1979 in Greensboro, NC. As they entered the technology lab to prepare for the meeting and to watch the video it felt so strange. They had interpreters and at times I felt like I was in the United Nations. While listening to the Muslims ask questions about racial intolerance in America, they couldn't fathom how people of color have difficulty in getting a fair trial. What was also baffling was the thought that the KKK members who killed the labor workers were never found guilty even though the entire incident was filmed. They couldn't understand it and me either.
Well, my week ended with a bang as Tavis Smiley campus to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (Aggie Pride!!) this evening. My roommate and I had an excellent time hearing the inspiring speech from Tavis. This particular tour was for "The Talented Tenth" HBCU tour and focused on preparing the new school of leaders for "calling" of leadership. Anytime opportunities come my way to hear people who are serving their communities, I refuse to let it slip past me.
Wow! I'm tired now. Tomorrow, I'll be off to sell more bras and study for my Comps. 85% of women are in the wrong size bra. Are you one?

Let me understand as I have very little knowledge of the case. The Klan killed four whites and one black and the whole event becomes an issue of unfair trials for "people of color?" If the KKK really is culpable and was wrongly exonerated or was never brought to trial, the case seems to be mainly about unfair trials for whites as mostly whites were victimized by this event. No?
Get a life David Jones.
