Holiday vs. Christmas...What's the big deal?

Recently, I am sure you have seen the debate over the use of "Holiday" versus "Christmas at some of the major retailers such as Walmart. Christians, mainly conservative Christians believe that this holiday is in existence because of the birth of Jesus Christ. Their opponents believe that we should respect the holiday traditions of both Christian and non-Christian by just saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. Anyone who knows me knows that I love God with all of my heart, however, I do not understand what is the big issue. If we as Christians would firmly root and ground our children in the word of God, then we would never have to worry about whether or not holiday is used in the world. We have taught our children the right way so that they will never be swayed .
