I'm trying to wrap my brain around the Republicans claiming they weren't included in the bill making process. One says they were and the other says they weren't. Someone isn't telling the truth and I suspect it's the Republicans. As I watched the Republican press conference, I'm reminded of the fact that the past 8 years the Republicans had control of the White House and Congress. I don't recall any sweeping legislation that benefited the American people like this bill has. They had 8 years to get it right and their irresponsible leadership put Americans in serious jeopardy. This stimulus package is not perfect and President Obama has acknowledged that. Trillions of dollars are needed to dig us out of debt and that's impossible to do but this package is a start.
The Republicans claim they have "the" answer to push America towards prosperity. Who told them they have the only answer? Although they mocked certain railway, golf cart and pc projects, what they are not saying is those entities require people to operate them. That constitutes a job. It gets people working and slowly begins to stimulate the economy. There are several paths towards prosperity and every path doesn't have to just be their way.
I am frustrated seeing the Republican "leadership" prancing around on this "principle" platform. Give me a break! What they want to see happen is President Obama fail, so they can say "I told you so". I have said it often, this smells like sabotage.
