Thinking Ahead...
I am the type of person that if I don't plan ahead, I will fail miserably. My friend Cynthia told me recently, "Girl, you better write stuff down. You know you're getting older!" It's time to pull that dusty day planner out of the moving boxes and use it. I've got projects, class presentations and conference presentations to complete so the day planner has come in handy. Now I am planning ahead for the summer...knowing that my graduate assistantship is not available in the summer, I have been applying to summer internships. It's been quite an experience. Since January I've applied to the United Nations, Fox Networks, BMG/Sony Entertainment, Apple, Google, Disney and a host of others. I'm working on one now as we speak. Internships are good learning experiences because it allows you to put into practice what was learned in the classroom setting. Meeting new people and having the chance to "speak the workplace jargon" is what I look forward to. I feel good about the application process so I should be hearing something by April. Cross your fingers. Outside of school, for all of those reading this, it is good to think ahead in life. Yes, life is sometimes spontaneous but having a plan for where you are going in life is key. Otherwise how do you know you've arrived at your destination if you don't plan for it in the beginning. Think about it.
