Like the late great James Brown said, "I'm back!" My mother and I arrived here in Greensboro a little after 1:00 am this morning. She drove most of the way because I wasn't feeling well. My mother was a real trooper the entire week. She worked so hard on each construction site and all of the teams we worked with absolutely loved her.
As far as the drive home, it was a long one. Neither my mother or myself had ever traveled into the deep South before. Although we are in different states in some ways we are all the same. It was a good experience coming back and of course we had some good food. I even picked up some Louisiana seasoning called "Slap Ya Mama!" Isn't that hilarious? I have so many receipts from Winn Dixie this week that it's not even funny. I fell in love with a restaurant in Moss Point, Mississippi called Barnhill. Good eatin'. They had some of the best cheese grits, hash browns and peach muffins on this side of heaven. Driving through Alabama, we stopped and toured Tuskegee University. What a beautiful and historic campus! You can feel the sense of pride that the students, alumni and faculty have for their institution. I felt honored to walk around a campus that was graced by the presence of Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver and of course the Tuskegee Airmen. I tried to take as many pictures as I possibly could.
I'm organizing my pictures and getting some developed as well. I will post them along with my comments. So far the pictures have some out well. I can't wait until you see them.
Take care
